Henceforth in Ukraine new standards of license plates for automobiles
are entered.

“ SIGNS NUMBER VEHICLES ” now in Ukraine.
Besides the system of a designation of regions in license plates has changed and
now it is necessary to remember, what combination of letters designates what
region.
We bring to your attention decoding of a designation of new numbers.
New license plates have the much greater number of combinations that will allow
to prolong term of their revolution, in comparison with previous. Besides
license plates of types 1,3, 5 – are the property of the owner of the machine.
At sale of the automobile they surrender in МРЭО on storage (till 5 years) and
at registration of the new automobile on the same owner – to it(him) and are
given out. But if the owner will replace region of residing then it(he) should
get new license plate. Exception is made only with nation-wide numbers with a
code "II". Transit numbers now will be on a red background, including for
motorcycles. On these numbers there will be a label with a month of delivery
that the inspector of GAI could define(determine) precisely are delayed they
whether or not.
What types of license plates are?
Type 1.
— License plates for automobiles, trailers, buses. They began 8-unit and contain
two letters at the left and two letters on the right. The combination of letters
at the left designates region (see the table), and right – a series of license
plate (possible(probable) combinations see in tabl №2). The background of
license plates can be white – for usual transport and yellow – for routing
transport, buses and a taxi.
The size of license plates – 520х112 mm. License plates of this type have new
state symbolics. At the left as a rectangular divided(shared) into two equal
parts of blue and yellow color. At numbers is present both the arms of Ukraine
and a code ua.
Codification of regions does not coincide with the previous series of numbers.
For example, in Kiev numbers with code АА, in Donetsk – АН, in Dnepropetrovsk –
АЕ, and on Volhynia – the EXPERT will be given out now. These combinations
should be remembered. Nation-wide numbers with an index II will appear also.

Type 2. Numbers for single trips on automobiles, trailers to them and buses. It
– transit numbers. Now they began red color. At the left there is a place where
date of their delivery will be glued. The inspector of GAI will see at once they
are delayed whether or not.
It is necessary to note, that diplomatic numbers under the new standard become
white to not be confused with transit. By the way for the last some years it
already the third change of color of "transits". Hardly earlier they were dark
blue color, and up to the introduction of the new standard - green.
